Please note, shift patterns for this role will include 07:00 - 15:00, 08:00 - 16:00, 15:00 - 23:00 and the occasional weekend.


We are looking for a motivated individual with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills who is dedicated to working as part of the team.

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit a part time driver to work within our MSE Transport Department based at Broomfield Hospital.


You will be responsible for the transportation of items across Trust sites, doctor's surgeries, and other NHS organisations on an ad-hoc or planned basis.

These items are essential to patient care, such as medication, medical equipment, specimens, patient notes and more.


Responsible for transport of mail, reports on results, pathology specimens, drugs, patient notes and blood between doctors' surgeries, clinics and pathology service - and mail, pharmacy, bloods and machinery between hospitals, clinics, doctors' surgeries, private addresses, schools, colleges, universities, nursing homes, etc.

Responsible for keeping to the arrival and departure times at various hospitals in accordance with a prescribed schedule, therefore being able to work on one's own initiative is imperative in the route taken between locations.

Responsible for transporting personnel safely, in and outside the borders of Mid Essex Hospitals boundaries in a safe and efficient manner.

To train and adhere to the standard of transporting pathology specimens and HSDU materials and in accordance with the transport procedures and safety, including infection control.

To deliver training to new starters within the Transport department
