Description

Solent Airport is a CAA Licensed Aerodrome providing an Aerodrome Flight Information Service, and Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (RFFS) CAT 2.

Solent Airport a fast growing General Aviation (GA) airport on the south coast of England.

It has successfully created a market for both corporate and GA aircraft as a gateway to the South of England with movements of c30,000 per annum now being supported.

Our objective is to extend Solent Airport's existing footprint in the corporate and general aviation market, recognising the growth potential from the industry sectors highlighted whilst exploiting the capacity constraints other Airports in the region are experiencing as a result of increased commercial aircraft movements.


Responsibilities:


  • To work at a senior level, leading the RFFS strategy in support of the Airport Manager and ; in addition to the day to day airport operational duties, performing the following duties and responsibilities:
  • The post holder is responsible for ensuring the safe, effective and efficient operational output in line with CAA regulatory requirements
  • Ensure strategic overview of operational procedures to ensure their safety and effectiveness.
  • To ensure that the RFFS administrative support system is prepared, and to support, any scrutiny by Regulatory Authorities and any other relevant bodies.
  • The daytoday function of the department, strategic planning, exercise planning and management, mitigation of risk and business continuity.
  • To take a proactive role in the attainment of safety improvement objectives and to promote the continuous improvement culture to employees and third parties.
  • To act as Chairman on the Airport Emergency Planning Committee and review, implement lessons to be learned following exercises, near misses and actual emergency incidents, amending the Solent Airport emergency plan as necessary.
  • Review and devise contingency plans, working in collaboration with the Airport Manager and Contingency Planning Officers.
  • To continually review the Emergency Orders and immediately notify of any deficiencies.
  • To maintain a close liaison with Local Authority emergency services and to ensure effective channels of communication.
  • Provide specialist support to the planning, delivery and postexercise reporting of routine regulatory Emergency Response exercises.
  • To carry out comprehensive inspections of RFFS equipment and vehicles.
  • Ensure the continual maintenance of a system of reporting and record keeping which readily identifies standards of safety and competency, and through monitoring and reviewing, overcome any areas of deficiency found.
  • Determine, communicate and ensure that clearly defined role accountabilities and responsibilities are both understood and adhered to by all personnel within the Airport Operations department.
  • To ensure adequate systems and facilities are available so that all RFFS personnel receive comprehensive training in conformity to CAP168, CAP1168 and CAP699 requirements and to ensure the Airport Manager has all the resources readily available.
  • Promote and encourage continuous professional development for all staff.
  • Sit on all required steering groups, working groups and committees as required by the Airport Manager.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To conduct aircraft refueling duties, IAW JIG4 and local procedures.
  • To conduct all additional airfield operational duties including Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and runway inspections, wildlife management, fuel management and access control/site security.
  • To provide all customer services in support of airfield operational requirements, including collection of fees and processing of charges associated with the airfield.
  • To carry out duties to support the airfield safeguarding requirements.
  • To ensure all users, tenants and visitors comply with airside safety requirements.
  • To ensure that Personal Protective Equipment is maintained in a clean and serviceable condition.
  • To receive, record and pass telephone messages accurately.
This is a shift working post, often with short notice airport extensions. Personnel must be prepared to remain at work if the situation demands.
