Description

The role of a Fee Earner Assistant is a role which offers an excellent opportunity to work with Jonathon Ormand (A Complex Injury Claims Handler) predominantly assisting Jonathan with handling complex, high value large loss injury RTA claims as well as assisting Multi Track Handlers when required.

Experience of filing basic court documents is preferred and excellent attention to detail essential. The role also includes the need to engage with a long standing insurance client regarding payments and reserves. This role has the potential for excellent development opportunities if desired.


Key Accountabilities

  • The role will include:
  • Instructing experts, including taking responsibility for uploading bulk records to Collaborate.
  • Liaising with investigators / requesting intel (Netwatch) enquiries.
  • Liaising with Insurer Client with regard to raising payment requests for fees, interim payments, damages payments etc. (whether BACS or cheque).
  • Liaising with CRU obtaining updated certificates etc.
  • Preparing bundle of documents.
  • Taking draft witness statements from policy holders / witnesses if required.
  • Instructing Costs Team to prepare budgets and Precedent R's.
  • Uploading court documents (DCP / High Court).
  • Diarising court orders.
  • Reviewing medical records.
  • Liaising with Claimant's solicitors when asked, e.g. requesting extensions of time for Defences when needed, payment authorities and banking details in settled cases etc.
  • Obtaining dates of availability for trial from customer/witnesses/experts/counsel.
  • To ensure compliance with the SRA standards & regulations

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong IT skills
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workloads
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Confidence to seek advice and guidance when dealing with new tasks
  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow instruction with attention to detail
  • Ability to recognise when sensitivity and tact are required
  • Effectively work within a team
  • Good listening and verbal communication skills
  • Good eye for detail
  • Ability to work within a client office and field regular queries direct from the client
  • Experience of working in a legal environment is desirable
  • Demonstrable experience of following a semiprescribed programme of work
  • IT Literate;
  • Proficient in MS Office (notably Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Experience of using a Claims/Case Management system.
