The Role of the Business Support Manager
Business support manager are responsible for day-to-day oversight of business operations. You must have in-depth knowledge of the entire business and the duties of all employees. In addition, the business support manager must oversee employee performance andtake corrective measures as necessary.
Role Responsibilities
Financial Control - Be responsible for financial management for the team, creating budgets and tracking spend. Be senior point of contact for the Team with the SPDS Finance Team. Ensuring POs are raised in a timely manner and manage procure-to-pay activities.
Ensure accurate and timely financial information is provided and provide other ad-hoc reporting as required. Contribute to business cases.
Resourcing - Be responsible for supplier and contract management for the team.

Work with Home Office and HMPO commercial staff to deliver robust supplier management practices, including the review and assessment of commercial resource partner performance usingBalanced Scorecards, maintenance of financial burn-down charts, compilation of quarterly Statement of Works (SoWs) and invoice and payment reconciliation.

Organisation and participate in contractor performance review meetings with Commercial, Service Managementand Contractor Representatives, providing, where necessary, a point of contact for issue resolution.

Be prepared to support and direct activities that support the introduction of the centrally procured Digital Family Skills and Resourcing Contracts, which may include a significant period of transition from one commercial supplier to another.

Lead / support people-focused activities within the team. Ensure and manage contractor and civil servant on-boarding and induction into the team.

Be responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of work and team, including management and developmentof HEO and EO Project Support Officers.

Show commitment to their personal development and promote effective individual and team performance.

Be prepared to actively contribute toward the definition and expansion of the business support function within Digital Services, as part of the ongoing work to implement the SPDS Target Operating Model (TOM).

Planning and Scheduling - Ensure effective systems are in place to enable effective commercial, finance and resource planning.

Monitoring and Reporting - Ensure that governance and reporting processes are supported, collaborating on the production of both routine and adhoc project and/or product reports and stakeholder updates as required, ensuring information and data is accurateand all reports completed in the required format, to a high standard and on time.

Track and report delivery against roadmaps, supporting effective governance and decision making.

Assist the wider delivery Team to undertake AGILE ceremonies, including Showand Tells and Retrospectives, and support senior stakeholder Deep Dives.

Draft and prepare high-quality briefings and other communication materials.
