An exciting vacancy is available as an Assistant Head of Operations (Facilities & Logistics) in the Estates department at Cardiff and the Vale College.

This post will be based across campuses.


Responsibilities include:


  • The preparation of tender documentation and tender procedures for campus services to maintain the best value service for the College at all operational sites.
  • The preparation of all tender documentation and tendering procedures for utility services at all sites to achieve best value for the College.
  • Establish and maintain all records for the consumption and costs of all utilities across all sites and prepare annual reports for assessment and measurement against KPI's.
  • Establish and maintain environmental policies and procedures to recognized environmental standards for all of the College's estate.
  • Establish and maintain all records relating to environmental issues and carbon reporting to ensure compliance with current legislation. This includes but is not limited to the maintaining of the Green Dragon environmental award.
  • Project manage, supervise and coordinate the work of contractors relating to campus services
  • Establish and maintain records of property costs as a whole preparing annual reports for assessment and measurement against KPI's. Advise and prepare reports for the Head of Operations and Director of Estates.
  • Assist in the investigation of the availability and suitability of options for new premises. Liaise with Landlords and tenants of leased property where required for the formulation of information for invoicing service charges where required.
  • Assist in the planning for future development in line with strategic business objectives.
  • Managing and lead change to ensure minimum disruption to core activities in conjunction with other team members and Head of Operations.
  • Direct, coordinate and plan essential security, transport, maintenance, mail, archiving, cleaning, catering, waste disposal, recycling, grounds maintenance etc for the safe and efficient operation requirement of the estate.
  • Welsh language skills are not essential but would be desirable for this role.
