Job Title:
Admin Assistant/Receptionist

(39 Weeks Per Annum) to include INSET days

  • To work as part of a team to ensure the school meets its education aims.
  • To provide high quality administrative duties and reception duties in a very busy and demanding environment within the school office.
  • To support the school's aims and objectives and to implement school policies and procedures.
  • To carry out any other associated duties as reasonably assigned by the Headteacher.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • To provide a highly professional and efficient reception and administrative service to all visitors to Llanishen High School.
  • Answering and directing general telephone calls and face to face enquiries.
  • Responsible for operating the electronic gates for visitors/staff/pupils.
  • Via the Inventory system, sign visitors and staff in and out of the premises in accordance with the School's Health & Safety Policy.
  • Provide personal (administrative and organisational) support to other staff
  • Provide general clerical/administration support to PA to Headteacher and undertake tasks including those of a sensitive or confidential nature.
  • Provide administrative and organisational support to staff and governors and establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/professionals.
  • Responsible for sending correspondence to parents, staff and governors.
  • Assist in the preparation of school's open evenings and parents' evenings.
  • Assist with marketing and promotion of the school.
  • Maintain manual and computerised record/management information systems including the use of general SIMS programs, such as homepage information, creating and running general reports, printing timetables and other SIMS information.
  • Contact First Aiders when required.
  • To maintain a professional manner at all times when dealing with pupils, staff and visitors.
  • Flexible to cover other areas as required.
  • Operate relevant ICT packages.
  • To undertake training and other learning activities along with personal development as required.
  • To be responsible for one's own professional development and participate in the performance management cycle.

  • Abide by the Data Protection Act and the Cardiff Council Confidentiality Agreement with handling pupil and staff information.
  • Abide by the School and Local Authorities Child Protection and Safeguarding Policies.
