Growing Space
Growing Space is a Third Sector Mental Health Specialist focusing on vocational intervention across Gwent.

Our aim is to really make a difference to those affected by mental ill health, by helping individuals back into society and into work, reducing social isolation and combating the stigma associated with mental health through vocational pathways, training, and work experience opportunities.


Service Overview
This post is Gwent Wide, so access to a vehicle is essential.

The No More Barriers project support individuals with Mental Health, Autism, or a Learning Disability across Gwent. The project enables individuals to access training, supported work placements, voluntary and employment opportunities.

The project support participants, volunteers and individuals in supported employment to work towards their goals, through their individual learning plan, by helping to break down the barriers they face.


Job Purpose
The administrator will work closely with project staff, participants, and volunteers Gwent wide.

Provide administrative support for participants with Mental Health, Autism or Learning Disabilities referred into the project.


Liaise with Growing Space staff and with external partners as required to further support participants on the 'No More Barriers' project.

Provide regular updates and reports to line manager in a timely manner.


Key Responsibilities

  • To ensure project communication methods are used appropriately and effectively
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with key partners and individuals from the wider community
  • Be a key communication point with all levels of staff, participants, volunteers and services
  • To work alongside the No More Barriers Team to develop and deliver the service
  • To provide support for the team with contacting potential participants/volunteers, and inputting data e.g. enquiries, appointments, referrals, induction, ILP's, training, occupancy etc
  • To input and update information on our internal systems, including our online database, keeping accurate contract and participant information in line with GDPR guidelines
  • Input data and run reports in relation to funder's reporting systems
  • To ensure documentation meets KPI's and Targets of the project
  • To ensure that IT systems are used effectively and in line with Growing Space procedures
  • To provide regular updates and reports to line manager and other third parties in line with contract requirements.
  • Take responsibility for accurate record keeping
  • Providing admin support and assistance to project staff as required, with daytoday admin duties
  • Maintain and managing all stationery, office IT and other equipment
  • Any other reasonable duties

Who is the person we are looking for? Someone who:

  • Can show how they connect to our values and what they will bring to delivery of the No More Barriers Project
  • Has an understanding and experience in working in an admin or office role
  • Has experience of this specific sector, either professional or personal
  • May have experience, but not essential, of working in employability programmes and outcomes whilst ensuring a strengthbased practice is maintained
  • Has some experience of working with external agencies and excellent communications skills
  • Is confident in communicating with a range of people and services
  • Can prioritise workload and work on their own initiative

Person Specification

Experience
Admin/office experience - 3 years minimum

Experience of working with adults with mental health, autism or a Learning Disability

Proficiency in Microsoft packages including Word, Excel. PowerPoint, Outlook, and the Internet - to create documents, input and manipulate data

Experience of working in an outcome targeted role


Qualifications and skills
Possess a recognised Admin qualification

Full current driving licence and access to your own transport

Ability to communicate in Welsh

Excellent verbal and written skills

Excellent IT skills including the ability to create documents, input and manipulate information


Knowledge and understanding
How mental health can affect an individual's life

Successful ways of overcoming barriers and improving employability

Ways to involve individuals in the further development of the project

Knowledge of a range of support and community provision across the delivery areas

A thorough understanding of support techniques that develop resilience and encourage self-actualisation


Competencies
