If you are, then a fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Safeguarding and Standards Business Support Team, Children's Services.

This post offers the flexibility of working in a hybrid way providing support based in both the Dorchester Office as well as 'virtual' working from home whilst maintaining an effective team ethic with daily huddles to catch up and pass on information, as well as using Microsoft Teams to communicate throughout the day providing a network of support within the Business Support team.

Your work pattern would be shaped around the needs of the business and or service needs.


What will you be doing:

The purpose of the role is to provide a range of administrative support within the Safeguarding team.

The service areas we support include Local Authority Designated Officers (LADO) and Schools Safeguarding.


Reporting to a Team Leader, the role will be varied and interesting and the post holder will need to be motivated and flexible in their approach to work, confident in using their own initiative and able to prioritise a demanding workload to tight deadlines.

The post holder will be part of a team responsible for delivering high-quality business support.
- note taking at meetings against people who work with children who pose a risk
- sending invites to professionals to attend meetings in respect of an allegation
- schools - assist the Safeguarding and Standards Advisor sending out Policy and Procedures to schools, updating data bases, School watch notifications, sending out School Audits
- various Statutory checks
- work closely with other business support colleagues to ensure a consistent approach and service delivery model is maintained across the business support teams
- work in compliance with statutory obligations e.g., Data Protection
- develop and maintain working relationships with colleagues, partners and other professionals, and function as a point of contact

We are looking for someone who is organised, flexible and can meet the demands of a busy work schedule and ensure deadlines are met.

Whether you are working from home or are in the office, you will have an eye for detail and ability to work on your own initiative as well as being an effective team member with a 'can do' approach.

In Business Support we are forward thinking and embrace being digitally focused.

Training for service-based systems will be provided and a good working knowledge of IT including the use of Outlook, Word and Excel is essential.

Experience is preferred for the post or with transferrable skills however office-based training will be provided as part of an induction training plan.


The role involves keyboard/computer work, but the variety of tasks supported will ensure regular opportunities for breaks away from the computer screen.

The nature of the work is highly confidential, and you will be required to undergo a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service Clearance).

This is full time role for 37 hours per week.

This role is based in Dorchester with home working. This post requires significant travel. You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed.
