Accounts Assistant - Full time.

Exjet Services are a multi disciplined drainage engineering company based in Paignton. Due to continued expansion we are currently seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our existing team.


We are looking for someone AAT level 4 qualified, with a minimum of 2-3 years experience in a similar role and ideally have experience using Xero, although this isn't essential.

The ideal person will have sound attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and accustomed to working with confidential information with integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities_

  • To administer the purchase ordering system to ensure that all purchases are correctly authorised and the goods and services received are accurately invoiced to Exjet.
  • To process authorised supplier invoices in Xero in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring correct nominal coding and due dates are entered.
  • To match supplier invoices to POs raised within Xero for all purchases and query any discrepancies with the appropriate manager.
  • To have a full understanding of accruals and prepayments for correct coding within Xero.
  • Ensure all equipment hire invoices are being invoiced for dates of hire, querying discrepancies with the appropriate manager.
  • To reconcile balances held on the Purchase Ledger to supplier statements and to make timely and accurate payments to creditors, ensuring all invoices are received by the deadline each month.
  • To process ADHOC bank payments as and when required.
  • ADHOC finance administration duties as and when required.
  • To provide cover for staff absence/holidays within the Finance team.
  • To provide ad hoc administrative support to all levels of management as required.
  • To process fortnightly weekly payroll.
  • To set up new starters, and process leavers on Xero payroll system
  • To calculate and post wage allocation journals for each line of business after each payroll.
  • To assist the Company Accountant with any ADHOC duties as required.
