The Head of Data Science role is a key role in the Analytics leadership team to help drive Tesco Bank forward as a data driven organisation.

In the role you will interact with ExCo and key directors to help shape the strategy and adoption of ML and AI.

Proven track record in developing and delivering an advanced analytics roadmap to yield optimal value for an organisation in the context of the business goals and strategy.

Ability to influence senior stakeholders in adoption of AI and ML.

Understanding of Data Science eco system world wide and emerging technologies and techniques.


Ability to lead a highly technical and knowledgeable team, to develop their capabilities and ensure they are working on the highest value items.


The Role

Skills


Highly effective communication skills, with the ability to distil the right message across the organisation, from the CEO to junior data scientists, in large groups or on a 1-2-1 basis (Communication).


Strong in collating various strategic and tactical plans to plan and prioritise the right deliverables to be worked on (Planning and Prioritising).


Can act independently to fully comprehend the business context and develop appropriate solutions, whilst providing guidance and training to others (Commercial acumen).


Strong analysing capabilities, allowing the individual to take information from a variety of sources and deliver the appropriate solution in the right timeframe (Analysing).


Activities they will be getting involved in - Team meetings both internal and external to Data Science and Analytics, engaging with senior executives in both Tesco Bank and group.

All of this to achieve the ultimate goal of delivering Data Science solutions that help Tesco achieve it's vision. Checking and packaging up of solutions delivered by the team

This role leads around 25 Data Scientist who are part of a wider 90 person Analytics function. They will work closely with our Data Science Engineering and Decision Science functions to ensure optimal output.

The Data, technology and technique landscape is evolving quickly and this role will play a key part in ensuring Tesco Bank is set up to embrace and take advantage of the dynamic situation.
