Particular need for 5pm-midnight/night shifts.

The post is based in the Clinical Pathology department at the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The role of a Medical Laboratory Assistant is varied and involves providing support to the Clinical Pathology team.


We expect you to be a passionate, self-motivated individual who has an organised approach to work with good attention to detail and who can remain calm when busy.

You will possess well developed communication and observational skills and enjoy working as part of a team so together we can provide excellent care and quality in a challenging environment.

Previous experience in an NHS clinical laboratory or in analytical techniques would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for individuals who can work flexibly to help support specimen reception.

Bank shifts are available at flexible times, days and at both main NUH sites

We particularly require individuals who can work in the afternoons and into the early evening

Booking in pathology sample requests into the laboratory IT system

Covering reception duties, sorting and prioritising samples.

Loading samples onto analytical equipment in the labs. Overseeing maintenance of pre-analytical equipment.

  • GCSE in English, Maths and Science (grade A-C or equivalent)

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
