ing vital infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, structures, hydropower and rail for a diverse range of public and private sector clients.


Based at our Head Office in Preston, and reporting to the Managing Estimator, you will be an integral part of the preconstruction team and contribute to the team's goals of securing new work, by leading and contributing to bids with focus on constructability,programme and quality deliverables across projects consisting of road schemes, bridge works, public realm, reservoirs and general civil engineering schemes based predominantly in the North West with a value from £1million to £10million.


Your key responsibilities will be to identify win themes, client drivers and barriers with the aim of producing the highest quality bid submissions as part of a larger tender team.

Furthermore, you will provide support to estimators in determining constructionmethodology with minimum unquantifiable risks, support the operations team by providing pre-construction material for tender as well providing support to the Contracts Manager & Commercial Lead.


The main duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Confirm the requirements of individual bids and ensure they are submitted within the deadline
  • Lead bid kickoff, reviews and feedback meetings
  • Contribute relevant ideas for identifying win themes and developing bid submissions to the company's advantage in order to present the company's strengths
  • Write original and review, edit and check bid responses for bid PQQ, tender and framework submissions
  • Produce bid stage NEC ECC Cl 31 compliant construction programmes, to supporting pricing and for submission
  • Present technical information in a user friendly way, such as Phasing Plans and Site Logistics Plans
  • Research about the client, sector, project, specialism or competitor strategies, where required
  • Gather internal evidence and collate data for bid content
  • Identify areas for team improvement and develop ideas for consideration
  • Prepare PowerPoint, PDF's and other visuals for tender interviews

The Successful Applicant:


You will have extensive civil engineering/construction experience with the ability to produce clear methodologies and create persuasive content for the requirement of bid submissions.

AS such, it is essential that you have excellent communication both oraland written and enjoy working as part of a thriving team.

In addition, you will have exceptional attention to detail, confident in prioritising workload and have advanced level skills in MS packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, it would be advantageousif you have worked with ASTA Powerproject.


  • Extensive industry experience in the civil engineering/construction sector
  • Commerciallyoriented
  • Excellent technical knowledge of civil engineering/construction operations
  • Knowledge of budgeting and reporting processes
  • Exceptional computer skills in Excel and Microsoft Project, good working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and it would be advantageous if you have worked with ASTA Powerproject
  • Detail and deadlineoriented with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead a team and work as part of a larger team
  • Solid understanding of estimating tools and approaches to managing complex, multidisciplinary projects and the flexibility to lead diverse and dynamic teams to successfully deliver projects
