My client withing the defence space are currently hiring for an SC Cleared Software Systems Engineer (DevOps) to join their team in order to collaborate closely with systems engineering teams to play a key role in the development and deployment of new products.

This is a hybrid role 3 days on site in Surrey/Kingston. 6 Month Contract. SC Clearance must be active and transferable. Inside IR35.

Role & Responsibilities

Understand the challenging needs of the customer, and take responsibility for developing, validating, and managing requirements to meet those needs.
Develop and document complex system architectures and subsystems, providing evidence of their fitness for purpose and demonstrating the value they deliver to customers.
Integrate systems that incorporate electronic, mechanical, and software subsystems, understanding the potential impact across the entire system as well as interfacing with other platforms and equipment.
Providing guidance and coaching.
Guiding new systems development by implementing best practice systems lifecycle processes.

Skills & Qualifications

Experience developing Infrastructure as Code solutions using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Packer, Powershell DSC.
Strong understanding of virtualization and container ecosystems, including expertise with VMware vSphere, Kubernetes, Docker, and API interaction and automation solutions.
Indepth knowledge of managing Linux, Windows, and Windows Server operating systems.
Demonstrated ability to configure and automate enterprise network infrastructure, including Routing, Switching, VLANs, Firewalls, and Load Balancers/Reverse Proxies.
Experience with Relational databases such as MySQL on both Windows and Linux platforms.
Proficiency in using Atlassian Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and GIT for project management, documentation, and version control.

Additional Skills

Knowledge and experience in multiple software lifecycle phases, including Requirements, Design, Implementation, Integration and Test, and Support.
Experience overseeing the production of software releases, including taking responsibility for release authorisation.
Strong programming and scripting skills, including experience with C#, Go, Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
Knowledge of modern API and Microservice principles, such as REST APIs, OpenAPI RESTful Design, and gRPC.
