Endoscopy are looking to appoint a competent and highly motivated individual to provide an excellent service in booking patients for their appointments at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Ensuring efficient and effective use of the endoscopy sessions.

Responsible for organizing admissions and pre-operative assessment clinics and endoscopy lists. Play a central role within this service and work in close liaison with NHS colleagues, patients and general public.

To manage the endoscopy waiting list using the Cosmic system and Solus scheduling tool. In accordance with the PAH Patient Access Policy and to achieve government and JAG waiting time standards.


To be responsible for the addition and removal from waiting list and recording of all relevant patient information to and from the waiting list.

This may be in response to a clinician, patient, or management request.


Monitor the patient Target List (PTL) on a daily basis to ensure government access standards are not breaches and to escalate any potential breaches and take appropriate action to resolve capacity issues.

Managing waiting lists for patients on the cancer pathway who require endoscopy procedures.

Monitoring and booking patients who require further surveillance appointments in Endoscopy.


Exercise initiative and use independent judgment and analysis to book patients, dependent on their clinical needs and agreed procedure template case mix.

Report against PTL progress and escalate any issues to the Service Manager or the Assistant Service Manager


To coordinate consultant procedure lists, including selecting appropriate case mix in clinical/chronological order and with appropriate attention to the medical requirements for the procedures.


The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) provides a full range of general acute, outpatient and diagnostic services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop's Stortford, and St Margaret's Hospital in Epping.


We employ 3,500 staff and serve a local population of around 350,000 people living in west Essex and east Hertfordshire, centred on the M11 corridor and the towns of Harlow, Bishop's Stortford and Epping.

Our extended catchment area incorporates a population of up to 500,000 and includes the areas of Hoddesdon, Cheshunt and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.


  • Responsible for admission and associated preoperative assessment clinics, ensuring all key hospital staff are aware of organizational arrangements and that relevant medical records are available.
  • To ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • To provide advice to patients in matters relating to admission (Pre and Post procedure guidance.)
  • To deal with enquiries from all service users in a helpful, courteous and diplomatic manner.
  • To ensure a high standard of customer service is provided at all times.
  • Required to identify and escalate any situation that may result in a breach of access targets. Regularly analyses waiting list information to ensure compliance within national waiting times.
  • To ensure all patient admission information is recorded on Cosmic and Solus in a timely manner so the same information is reflected on both systems simultaneously.
  • To ensure that all available endoscopy lists are utilized to maximum potential, including replacing short notice cancellations and identification of vacant sessions that may be used by alternative providers as required.
  • Analysis of information regarding waiting times and identify requirement for additional capacity and flag to the Service Manager/ Assistant Service Manager in a timely manner to ensure that patients are treated within Access Policy and government waiting time standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring information regarding patient's special needs and/or co morbidities are documented and communicated to relevant wards/departments. i.e. MRSA, Diabetic, Latex allergy etc in a timely manner
  • Assist in the training of new endoscopy booking staff.
  • To work flexibly according to the needs of the service, including cover for colleagues during periods of leave.
  • Try to find resolutions to patient complaints/issues where possible and identifying when management intervention is required.
  • To work with colleagues to appropriately manage the office environment, including resource management in terms of stationary and general office upkeep.
  • To work under own initiative and make confident decisions as required to ensure efficient service
