We are in search of a dynamic and proactive individual to join the Pharmacy Team at the Nottingham City Hospital campus. As a Pharmacy Porter, you will play a crucial role in delivering medicines to hospital wards and clinics efficiently and promptly.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone to become a part of the Pharmacy Dispensary team and operate on a rotating two-week schedule:

  • Week 1:
    • Monday and Tuesday from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm
    • Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
  • Week 2:
    • Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm

No prior experience in Pharmacy is necessary as comprehensive in-house training will be provided.

Working alongside another Pharmacy Porter, you will be responsible for transporting medicines to the City Hospital campus wards and clinics, ensuring timely delivery to patients, including those being discharged from the hospital. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collecting all medicines from the Pharmacy Dispensary
  • Delivering medicines to wards and clinic areas as per the daily schedule
  • Adhering to Pharmacy's safe work systems and procedures for controlled drugs
  • Completing necessary paperwork to track delivered medicines
  • Providing a safe and high-quality service to patients and hospital wards/clinics

This role does not require a work permit; applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK.

  • Opportunity to complete the Buttercups Pharmacy Qualification for Stock Management with support from the Pharmacy Education and Training Team
  • Deliver pharmacy orders and collect 'envopak' bags from wards/clinics/departments and the Pharmacy Store
  • Operate the Pharmacy tug with a clean driving license
  • Ensure timely pick-up and delivery of dispensed medicines, fluid orders, and Controlled Drug orders while maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Handle Pharmaceutical and Non-Pharmaceutical waste disposal
  • Assist in restocking shelves and waste disposal
  • Communicate effectively between wards and Pharmacy
  • Deliver stock medicines and special orders to designated locations in the hospital
  • Support in training new staff and participate in performance reviews
  • Engage in Bank Holiday rotas and 7-day shift work

Any additional reasonable duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Dispensary Lead or Chief Technician.

Please note that this role involves performing duties in a confined space with variable temperatures and requires frequent bending, stretching, heavy lifting, and outdoor work in various weather conditions.
