Description
The role requires a combination of interpersonal skills and insight into the challenges the residents are facing. Knowledge and understanding of the 12-step process is essential. Project workers carry out 121 sessions with allocated residents. These sessions are used primarily for intensive housing management and preparing residents for a successful move into independent living.They are also designed to capture any difficulties within the community and to monitor the residents' progress with mutual aid fellowships.
An ability to form trusting relationships whilst maintaining boundaries is crucial. Project workers are also expected to signpost to other agencies if and when required.Detailed Responsibilities:
Community Well-being:
- Engage with residents in a meaningful manner to ensure the best possibilities for recovery.
- Conduct 121 sessions with allocated residents: Identify barriers and areas of need. Provide individualized support plans that address and help support the residents as they resolve their issues, engage with any relevant training and education, and ready themselves for transition into independent living, including personal development/life skills training that meets their drug and alcohol issues, financial planning, and housing advice.
- Collaborate with external professional, voluntary, and mutual aid organizations to ensure residents have access to and are engaging with all necessary resources and support systems.
Maintaining Community Boundaries:
- Make sure the 'House Rules and Expectations' are being complied with to maintain a respectful and harmonious living environment for all residents.
- Address any violations of house rules promptly and fairly, using these instances as opportunities for learning and growth.
- Assist the manager in holding morning community meetings to discuss house dynamics, address collective issues, and reinforce the importance of mutual respect and cooperation.
- Carry out daily room and chore checks.
Office Duties:
- Carry out 'oncall' duties on a rota basis.
- File management of allocated residents. Maintaining support plans and updating 121 session files.
- Carry out regular drug and alcohol testing and record outcomes.
- Take part in weekly staff meetings to discuss resident progress and team issues.
- Take payments from residents and update records.
- Ensure all resident data is handled in strict compliance with our data protection policy.
