An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the Civic and Governance support team.

You will be organised, flexible and a good communicator whilst also able to manage and monitor the performance and conduct of the Civic and Governance Support Officers.

A fundamentalpart of the role will be to ensure that administrative support is provided across the whole of Governance.

We are a small team but cover a range of services and are looking for a team player who is happy to roll up their sleeves and get involved in all aspects of the work of Governance.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and highly organised individualto join our Governance Team.

This is a great opportunity to work across a range of services within Governance, including civic, FOI, data protection, committees, elections, legal admin and equalities.

What you'll be doing


You'll be responsible for managing the performance, development, conduct and attendance of the Civic and Governance Support Officers and ensuring that suitable support is organised and prioritised across all services within Governance.

The job also involvesorganising and co-ordinating civic functions and events, working with other key service areas.

You will also be working closely with senior officers and elected councillors and part of the role will be to raise and promote the profile of the Councils' Chairmenin both districts.


You must have


To be a success in this challenging and varied post you will need the ability to achieve results through managing others.

You should have excellent organisational skills, required for co-ordinating/prioritising workloads and organising events.

You will alsoneed great communication skills, both oral and in writing, and be able to communicate at all levels, ensuring you maintain political impartiality and confidentiality.

You will need to be IT literate and willing to work flexibly, as events are normally in theevening and some can be at weekends.
