Who We Are


Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) is the national health board with responsibility for driving improvement in the safety and quality of health and social care for all people in Scotland.

The Role


The Senior Information Governance Officer is a specialist post with responsibility for Records Management and Freedom of Information across the organisation.

Working autonomously within a small information governance team you will receive professional and peer support from our data protection lead and Caldicott Guardian to deliver defined assurance and improvement objectives.


We are looking for a motivated team player with good practical knowledge and experience of all information legislation (Public Records (Scotland) Act 2011, Data Protection Act 2018, Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, Access to Health Records Act You must be able to demonstrate evidence of success in the delivery of advice, guidance and training relevant to statutory compliance as you will lead on the refresh and implementation of the corporate Records Management Plan and the management of Freedom of Information requests as well as providing generic information governance support.

Knowledge and experience of M365 information governance is desirable as you will be a key participant in the HIS digital transformation programme.


The role offers excellent professional development opportunities through involvement in national information governance activities and membership of the NHS Scotland Records Management and Freedom of Information forums.
