We have a vacancy for a first-rate external communications specialist with our client East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) based in London's vibrant east end.

We are looking for someone with highly developed skills in the following:

Media Management
Stakeholder engagement
Public-facing social media
Broadcast media skills, including filming and video editing


This is an ideal role for a journalist looking to make the switch to PR or for a political researcher with first rate media skills, or applicants with other related backgrounds ELFT is one of the country's leading mental, community and primary care NHS trusts and has been rated 'Outstanding' by its regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) three times in a row.

The trust has around 6,000 staff at 150 sites in Newham, Tower Hamlets, City & Hackney and also Bedfordshire. We are also increasingly collaborating on exciting projects with our neighbouring trust,
North London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT).


We're looking for someone who knows a good story, occasionally having to make sense of complex 'NHS-speak' and can package it to interest the media.

They should also have a calm head and be able to command the confidence of trust leaders in a crisis and give sound advice on reactive press enquiries.

We want someone with has an active interest in the NHS and understands the landscape in which it operates. You will be communicating with government ministers, MPs, local authorities, other NHS
bodies and many others with an interest in health services.

Social media is an essential tool in your PR armoury and you'll need to show experience of using it effectively.

This includes filming, presenting and editing short news clips for public consumption on social media and the trust website.

For the first few months you'll be working for On The Level PR who specialise in transforming NHS and social care communications before the team working with ELFT transfer to the trust.
