Head of Fundraising


Location:
Stroud, Gloucestershire


Salary:
£42k per annum (pro rata)

Duration: 3 days a week until October 2025

A unique place, a unique project and a unique opportunity

Thanks to a large grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NHLF), the
Cotswold Canals Connected project is restoring 6km of canal, connecting an already restored section to the national canal network, making Stroud and
Stonehouse canal towns once again.

This project will also engage and connect communities, bring wide-ranging health and wellbeing opportunities, conserve our heritage and enhance our environment and wildlife.


The Head of Fundraising will have the leadership, knowledge, confidence and expertise to secure the additional funding required to deliver the successful completion of the NLHF funded Phase 1B project.

This role is funded by the CCC
Project and is hosted by Cotswold Canals Trust (CCT) who are co-leading the project with Stroud District Council.

This is an Executive level role reporting to the CCC Project Director and the
Cotswold Canals Trust Board of Trustees.

CCT has a successful track record of securing funds, donations, grants and legacies.

This role is required to secure the additional funding required for this project through a combination of:


  • Grants: Working across the partnership to secure funding via SDC, GCC and other appropriate organisations
  • Trusts & Foundations: Deliver a pipeline of donations from registered Trusts and Foundations in the UK
  • Events: Fundraising and sponsorship of events and activities
  • Commercial and business: Sponsorship of projects, events and activities including corporate volunteering, equipment, plant and materials
Skills and Knowledge

  • Proven track record of significant charitable fundraising & income generation in the Heritage and Community sectors
  • The ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Successful track record in securing funds through public grants and charitable trusts
  • Proven track record of successful bid writing
  • Knowledge and experience of the Code of Fundraising Practice
  • Experience in GDPR and Information Security
  • A proven track record of meeting and exceeding financial targets
  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Working Hours

This is a flexible working hours role of 3 days per week working out of the Project
Office at Ebley Mill, Stroud with the ability to work from home and the Cotswold
Canals Trust Office at Bell House, Stroud. This is a fixed term contract funded up until October 2025.
