  • Job description
  • This role is part of the East Midlands Area Incident Team. The post will support our extensive emergency planning and incident response work for a wide range of risks and hazards from flooding to drought and large industrial fires to environmental pollution. The role is central to ensuring our area is prepared for emergencies and will contribute to training, exercises, risk assessment and implementing the processes we use to ensure the communities we serve are informed of flood risk and protected from environmental harm. The role will be central to the delivery of a range of initiatives and will work with the wider team to assist in producing emergency response plans, training and exercising events, ensuring our systems work and collaborating with external emergency response partners to ensure the hazards faced by the region are effectively managed.

All staff in the environment agency are expected to have an incident role, this may involved some out of hours cover and occasional shift work during a live incident response.

  • The Area Incident Team (AIT) is a high performing and award winning team which ensures we can respond to and plan for a wide range of incidents and emergencies. The team work with the whole business and the external emergency services to achieve this in line with the Civil Contingencies Act and our duties to protect the environment and warn and inform the public.
  • Experience/skills requiredBecause our stakeholder are so diverse the post holder will be a confident communicator able to present compelling arguments using a range of different media.

A basic understanding of general risk assessment processes would be an advantage but not essential as training will be provided.
