We are looking for an enthusiastic HR Officer for this hands on and practical role who is self-motivated and efficient.

This role is based in our Head Office in Glasgow City Centre and will provide full administration and coordination support within our Operations Team to ensure smooth operation of our HR Function.

This role is integral within the team and will suit someone who has generalist HR experience.

The variety of this role will allow you to grow your skills within HR as you will continuously review and develop our HR processes.


As Scottish Dental Care continues to grow, this role offers a great opportunity to strengthen and support the People function through providing accurate, efficient, and effective administration associated with the needs of the organisation and its people.

This role will also support the execution of the Learning and Development strategy to achieve the business objectives.


Key responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Oversee employee onboarding and orientation programs to ensure new hires are integrated into the organization effectively.
  • Administer and manage employee benefits programs, including holidays, health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks.
  • Handle employee relations issues and resolve conflicts in a fair and timely manner.
  • Implement performance management systems to track employee performance, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance employee skills and capabilities.
  • Working with outsourced HR advisors we ensure compliance with all applicable labour laws and regulations, including employment standards, workplace safety, and equal employment opportunity.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate HR records and documentation using the current HR system.
  • Partner with management to develop and implement policies and procedures that promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices in HR management, legislative changes and recommend changes or improvements as needed.
  • Assist in the ongoing development of the employee handbook
  • Assist in the development of our elearning platform to improve performance, understanding and competency of all team members throughout the group
  • Assist in the creation of digital learning solutions
  • Take ownership for the development of our training content
  • Drive ESG and be part of the stakeholder group focusing on and taking ownership for the people elements relating to ESG.

You'll be successful if you:


  • Have proven experience within a similar role, be stepping up to your first HR Managers role, ideally within a dental or healthcare environment
  • Highly experience within a HR function
  • Have a good understanding of HR processes and GDPR regulations
  • Have experience in the creation of company inductions and appraisals
  • Have a high level of computer literacy with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint with the ability to pick up new systems quickly
  • Are comfortable working in a fact paced and changing environment
  • Have a flexible and professional approach to work with the ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive personal data
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with a range of stakeholders at all levels
  • Have high attention to detail and accuracy in all work
  • Be willing to work on own but alongside a professional outsourced HR advisory service
  • CIPD qualification would be advantageous
