IT Systems Engineer (Infrastructure),working as part of the IT Support Team, based at our
West Durrington Campus but supporting systems across the group.
You will join us on a
full time, permanent basis and in return, we will offer a competitive salaryof
£28,079 - £30,691 per annum.
The Chichester College Groupis the largest provider of further education in Sussex and is comprised of 5 Colleges based at Chichester, Crawley, Worthing, Haywards Heath, and Brinsbury near Pulborough which is land-based. The IT Systems Engineer (Infrastructure) role:
As our
IT Systems Engineer (Infrastructure), you will maintain and enhance the IT infrastructure including firewalls, telephony, WiFi, and local and wide area networks.
You will provide a third level technical resource within the IT Services team, and also work independently and as part of a team on complex technical projects.
Key Responsibilities of our IT Systems Engineer (Infrastructure):
- Ensuring that the IT infrastructure is secure, resilient, robust and meets the needs of the Group
- Maintaining comprehensive documentation of the IT infrastructure
- Following relevant change management processes
- Working independently and as a member of a larger team on the design, specification, procurement, and implementation of complex IT based systems
- Proactively monitoring the operation and efficiency of the IT infrastructure
- Responding to requests received via the Help Desk system within prescribed service level agreements
- Performing routine backup, recovery and maintenance tasks as required
- Engaging in knowledge sharing with the wider IT Services team
- Liaising with external support providers and vendors as required
- Proactively maintaining knowledge and skills within areas of responsibility
Our ideal IT Systems Engineer (Infrastructure) should have the below skills and experience:
- General education to Level
- IT related qualification at Level 3 or above
- Substantial experience in deploying, administering, maintaining and supporting enterprise level network infrastructure including firewalls, switching, telephony, WiFi, local and wide area networking
- General IT hardware and software skills associated with Microsoft desktop operating systems and PC hardware
- Current knowledge of the industry (challenges, solutions, security, operations, methodologies)
- The ability to communicate with a diverse range of people at all ages and levels, both technically and non technically
- Structured and methodical approach to solving complex technical problems
