You will be a key member of the Laboratory Chemicals Legal Team, supporting their Corporate Counsel by providing guidance to business partners globally on a wide range Legal, operational and business matters.

Day-to-day you will be focussed on supporting our commercial teams' contract negotiation activities. You may also be required to provide ad-hoc advice on other legal matters with appropriate support (e.g. compliance and regulatory matters) and to provide training to our commercial teams.

You will be joining a friendly in-house team, with lots of support.

You will work closely with Corporate Counsel, Division Counsel and various other functions such as Finance, Quality, Regulatory, Compliance, Product Management, Customer Services, IP and Procurement.

This is a full time, permanent UK opportunity - 100% remote working is available or you can be based at our Inchinnan (Glasgow), Loughborough or Heysham site.


What will you do?

  • Review, draft, negotiate and if appropriate seek approval for the execution of agreements of varying complexity, including standard T&Cs, sales, quality and purchasing agreements. Support and, where appropriate, lead negotiations with customers on a variety of agreements
  • Act as central point of contact for contracts generated and supported by external partners, including but not limited to tech transfer, distributor and other commercial agreements and provide counsel on the matters they raise
  • Partner with business teams on commercial matters (e.g. sales, customer documentation support, product labelling requirements) and quality/regulatory matters (e.g. quality agreements, regulated products and regulatory audits), and facilitate review and resolution of customer concerns and complaints
  • Help drive use of third party compliance software by the commercial teams.
  • Educate and train employees on their role in contract negotiations and their obligations under the terms of various contracts and under applicable legal requirements
  • Promote PPI (process improvement) initiatives and adopt a process improvement culture and take an active role in crafting new templates, workflows and processes to enable business colleagues to conclude deals effectively

Who we are looking for:


  • You will hold a Law Degree in a UK jurisdiction, or equivalent legal experience in a contractsfocussed role (such as a paralegal in private practice or similar role inhouse)
  • A good working knowledge of contract law and experience in contract negotiation/drafting
  • Strong commercial awareness and business sense, with ability to navigate the various issues surrounding contracts, technology and corporate structure
  • Able to fully engage with and influence business stakeholders and deal effectively and efficiently with a highvolume workload
  • Is fluent in the English language
