Join our team of Pastoral Tutors and help facilitate a programme aimed at fostering both personal and social development in our students, as well as equipping them with crucial employability skills.


Pastoral Tutor

  • Wakefield Campus | £26,574 per annum, depending on qualifications/experience.
  • Parttime, 29.6 hours per week permanent and temporary (to July 2025) contracts available


As a Pastoral Tutor based at our Wakefield Campus but working college-wide, you will be responsible for helping to deliver GOALS, a group tutorial programme designed to cater to the needs of students studying various courses across the college.

You will provide employability and personal/social development input as per the requirements of their chosen programme area and give them to tools to help them achieve their full potential.


The role of Pastoral Tutor will involve:

  • Creating and managing comprehensive programme delivery plans, which include relevant resources, presentations, and materials for all classes.
  • Collaborating with the GOALS team and sharing best practices.
  • Ensuring that the teaching approach is engaging, stimulating, effective, and progressoriented for all individuals and groups, rekindling enthusiasm in every learner.


You will also use positive behaviour strategies to encourage your students, offer feedback on their work, and monitor attendance to exceed the statutory target.

Your efforts will ensure that your learners have an appropriate examination and assessment plan in place for all components of their qualification, paving the way for their bright future.


  • Either a degree in education or a related discipline, or industry experience in this field
  • A teaching qualification or a willingness to attain this on appointment.
  • A good standard of education that includes GCSE English and Maths, or an equivalent level of proficiency.
  • Prior experience working in the teaching and learning sector and a deep understanding of the principles of teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • The ability to plan, deliver, and assess teaching and learning activities, as well as a firm grasp of safeguarding principles.
