BAM are looking to recruit a Environment Sustainability Advisor for our Central Region, based in either Solihull of Hemel Hempstead.


Full time role Monday - Friday

Your mission


Whilst the role is regionally focussed, the role forms part of the wider UK and Ireland environmental sustainability team and as such, will require occasional support for wider strategic projects and attendance at construction and divisional key events.

The role reports directly to a Senior Environmental Sustainability function within the construction segment.

  • Delivering on the responsibilities as set out below
  • Adopting and promoting BAM's Vision and Values
  • Taking ownership for the work assigned to you
  • Supporting the BAM Sustainability Strategy objectives
  • Meeting regularly with your lime manager to discuss performance and progress against targets
  • Support delivery of Environmental Sustainability continual improvement
  • Be responsive to the regional teams to offer support and advice
  • Provide environmental sustainability support and expertise to the tender and work winning process.
  • Build effective relationships with key stakeholders
  • Review of performance data with planned proactive actions that are executed and shared
  • Support training development and delivery to regional audiences.
  • Contribute to knowledge share across the wider sustainability team.
  • Identifying and communicate best practice and promote continued improvement
  • Working in accordance and remaining up to date with current established Company procedures and processes and providing feedback on their continuing effectiveness.
  • Carrying out other relevant duties as required from time to time.

Who are we looking for?

  • A good technical knowledge and/or experience of environmental regulation and standards applicable to the built environment
  • Technical qualification in Environmental Sustainability or good level of experience working in a similar role
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of applicable international standards
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of schemes for example; BREEAM, Fitwel, LEED, SKA WELL and NABERS
  • Qualified or working towards a professional qualification through a suitable institution (IEMA)
  • Experience of working within a team both colocated and operating remotely
  • Articulate and engaging communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and ability to inspire and motivate people across a company to get involved
  • Good organisation skills and attention to detail
  • A passion for and commitment to sustainability issues with a specific focus on construction, delivering excellence and driving continuous improvement.
  • Experience of influencing and/or supporting a range of roles to deliver environmental excellence
  • Willingness to travel and a full driving license
  • Experience or knowledge of embodied carbon assessments, One click LCA and knowledge of circular economy principles
  • Experience or knowledge of biodiversity/Habitat assessments, measurement and net gain
  • Experience of supporting wining work teams to deliver a compelling environmental sustainability narrative
  • Connections and involvement with industry forum groups and trade bodies
  • Collaborative and supportive behaviours
