Building a sustainable tomorrow
BAM Construction are recruiting a Senior Planner/Planner in the North-East business unit of our construction business.

The NE region is based in Leeds and covers the NE of England, however most projects serviced from this office cover Yorkshire, with some in Humberside & Lincolnshire.


We are also currently delivering an iconic Arena Project in East Manchester jointly with our North West Business Unit, and the role may initially include supporting this project.


Your mission

  • A proactive collaborative project team member focused on effective planning, accurate reporting, effective risk management and proactive problem solving through the preconstruction and construction stages
  • Create, develop and maintain the master programme suite including design, procurement and construction programmes using Asta Powerproject for use during project preconstruction and construction phases and occasionally tenders.
  • In conjunction with the design manager and Consultants, develop the design programme and integrate with the procurement and construction programme.
  • In conjunction with the Project Manager and supply chain, develop agreed and realistic phasing plans and efficient, coordinated working methods. Preparing logistics plans and phasing layouts, including liaison with our digital team to create 4d visualisations where required. Ensure plans and working methods are safe and sustainable, attend relevant training courses as necessary.
  • Scheduling labour, selecting of major plant and access equipment including scaffold schedules, tower crane utilisation and temporary works.
  • Working with the site team and supply chain, prepare detailed working programmes, short term plans and subcontractor trade programmes.
  • Monitoring progress against KPI's, throughout the construction process and comparing this with the projected schedule of work. Reporting findings and collaborating with the team recommending solutions to recover delays, recording relevant events for potential entitlement claims. Updating project plans on an ongoing basis as necessary.
  • Preparing project and activity reports as required.
  • Utilise and embrace digital innovation and collaboration software including Autodesk BIM360 and other BAM digital platforms, attending relevant training courses as necessary.
  • Supporting tender teams and others where required, including mentoring junior staff where appropriate.

Who are we looking for?

  • A collaborative "cando" approach, proactive team player, with good communication skills who lives the 5 BAM values
  • Reliable, Collaborative, Sustainable, Inclusive, Ownership.
  • Good understanding of construction techniques, sequencing & methodology.
  • Good understanding of different forms of Construction Contracts and their requirements, including NEC and JCT. Demonstrable experience in contract, tender and NEC planning.
  • Suitable Project experience, particularly within the Leisure, Education, Health & Commercial sectors, with good understanding of highquality finishes and M&E interfaces.
  • Experience in using; Asta Powerproject, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word. Some knowledge of Primavera P6 and MS Project would be useful, but not essential
  • Knowledge and practice in 3D/4D modelling, including Synchro and Navisworks (preferred but not essential).
  • Ideally Degree qualified, minimum qualification to HNC, HND level.
