Crop Health and Protection Limited ("CHAP") is one of the four Centres for Agricultural Innovation and a key component of the UK Government's Agri-Tech Strategy, aiming to spark scientific and technical innovation that enables transformational change and sustainable productivity in agriculture.
About the Role:
CHAP is seeking to grow its understanding, connections and partnerships across the sector.
As part of the Innovation Team this role will be responsible for horizon scanning for the latest game changing developments, increasing market intelligence and sourcing compelling content for the CHAP website and other media channels from a network of contributors.
You will also work closely with the CHAP commercial team and be key to helping CHAP keep its finger on the pulse of the latest cutting-edge advances in agritech and further afield.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Report to the Innovation Director and assist in the overall objectives of CHAP
- Proactively research and engage with the sector to understand current opportunities and challenges
- Grow the CHAP network, generating new relationships and expanding existing ones
- Develop and manage a network of contributors who will help to keep CHAP up to date with the latest technical development and provide scientific relevant content for the CHAP website and other media channels
- Raise awareness of CHAP and its capabilities
- Provide relevant documentation and reports internally
- Produce meeting reports, briefing documents and presentations as required for colleagues, Board and wider audience.
- Assist with appropriate reporting to the Innovation, Operational, Commercial teams and Monitoring Officer as required.
Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:
- A good honours degree in a science discipline (or equivalent experience).
- A MSc/PhD in a science discipline and/or experience of working within a relevant industry sector.
- Experience and understanding of the academic research and development sector and/or commercial research sector.
- Experience of scientific content production or outreach activities.
- Ability to liaise with a wide variety of colleagues technical and nontechnical.
- Ability to build relationships with a range of organisations.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with ability to engage with stakeholders at any level.
- Confident, friendly and articulate manner
- Experience of developing and maintaining networks
- Effectively plan and manage workload.
- Able to work to tight deadlines.
- Ability to work both as a team member and on own initiative.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office packages

£35,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
