Book Designer - London, United Kingdom - Jellycat
Description
Jellycat are looking for a creative and highly motivated Designer to join our friendly and dynamic children's books team.
The position will be based at our London White City office but will include a mixture of office and remote working.
The role and responsibilities will be:
- Complete design and layout of titles from idea conception to file delivery
- Work on a variety of formats including cloth books, activity books and picture books
- Work closely with illustrators during the book creation process
- Design 1520 titles per year
- Contribute ideas to the development of new novelty and fiction formats
- Ensure Jellycat's visual style and design approach is maintained across new designs
- Create presentations and material for book meetings
- Design original and onbrand covers
- Find and recruit new illustrators for projects
- Liaise with sales, marketing and upper management and actioning comments
- Ensuring book files are pressready and supplied according to printer specifications
- To have market awareness and keep uptodate with current trends in the children's book market
Required knowledge and skills:
- You will have at least 2 years' experience in the publishing industry, preferably in children's fiction
- Excellent design skills (using Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator) and typographic skills
- Degree/equivalent in Graphic Design
- Good knowledge of prepress and colour management issues
- Organised with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple deadlines and the ability to work in a fastpaced environment
- Team player with excellent communication skills
