Shifts:
Days only.

Salary:
£16-£18 per hour DOE

Hours per week: 44.

Hours: 7am to 5pm Mon to Thurs and 7-1 Fridays

Duration:
contract - 6 months +

Start date:
immediate.

Client Summary:
Leading manufacturer and front line supplier of powertrain products based in the UK and Ireland. Areas of expertise include Engine Overhaul, final Drive Overhaul and locomotive refurbishment.

Key Aim:
The aim is to perform precision smoothing, sharpening, polishing, or grinding of metal objects.

Key duties:

Dress grinding wheels, according to specifications.
Monitors machine operations to determine whether adjustments are necessary: stop machines when problems occur.
To inspect, touch and measure work pieces to ensure that surfaces and dimensions meet specifications.
To set up and operate grinding or polishing machines to grind metal work pieces such as dies, parts, and tools.
To remove finished work pieces from machines and place them in boxes or on racks; set aside pieces that are deemed defective.
To file or finish surfaces of work pieces, using prescribed hand tools.
To perform basic maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating machine parts.
To remove and replace worn or broken machine parts, using hand tools.
To compute numbers, widths, and angles of cutting tools, micrometers, scales, and gauges and adjust tools to produce specified cuts.
To be able to conduct tests and inspect parts in order to evaluate quality or performance.
Mentor trainees / apprentices if applicable.
Work to and support all relevant 5S activities.
Follow instructions provided by line managers.
Ensure that waste is disposed of in the correct manner.
Follow the relevant working instructions / process plans / drawings etc.
Report any near misses.
Maintain good level of attendance at work.
