Description
Everybody says that they have an exciting opportunity for people, we really do.

We are opening a new 8 bedded intensive rehabilitation ward, small but hopefully with you on board, perfectly formed.

This is a new service aimed at bridging the gap for those people who fall between acute and mental health rehabilitation services.

The service will be aimed at ensuring that people's mental health is optimised and that the care in the community is available to support them following discharge.

You will have the opportunity of working with a new team to develop what is a new service that will be the first of this type in the Trust.

It is aimed at easing the flow of patients between acute mental health and the community as well as the flow between acute mental health and rehab services.

We envisage people staying for a maximum of 12 weeks.

As such it will be an outward looking service and you will have the opportunity to work with and gain a greater understanding of other part of the mental health system.

As a Nursing Associate you will work with the multi professional team and a Registered Nurse to assess, plan, organise and deliver clinical care in line with service and patient needs, as agreed with supervising clinicians.

You will work independently under the leadership of registered nurses and manage a delegated caseload.

You will act professionally at all times and use your knowledge and experience to make evidence based decisions to solve challenges and problems.

You will recognise and work within the limits of your competencies and are responsible and accountable for your actions. You will have some responsibility for supervising Health Care Assistants and students during their placements. You will be expected to actively contribute to quality assurance processes and service development.

Our Service

  • We provide a service for people who have complex needs as a result of a severe and enduring mental illness which is psychotic in nature;
  • We provide a core service across Brent, Harrow, Hillington, Kensington & Chelsea as well as Westminster;
  • In addition, we provide cost per case beds across a number of other boroughs and counties;
  • A number of our services are AIMS accredited;

We have a stepped care model, using the principle of least restrictive option, that includes the following:

  • High Dependency Units
  • Managed Access Units and
  • Community Rehabilitation Ward
  • We accept people detained under both parts ll & lll of the Mental Health Act.
The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users.

As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

What do we Expect?

That you ensure you stay up to date with your stat man & essential to role training.

That you attend your supervision & record it on LDZ

That you actively participate in quality improvement initiatives.

That you take responsibility for your part in ensuring we meet our performance objectives as these are about care that directly impacts on patients.

Our imperative is to provide the care and treatment in a timely and effective manner that meets the needs of our patients.

Healthcare is, particularly at the moment, in a state of flux, you will therefore need to be flexible and adaptable, ensuring that you read and implement changes as needed.

What can you Expect from us?

If you are a newly qualified nurse we will support you through your preceptorship.

We will ensure that you have access to regular supervision and appraisals.

We will provide regular opportunities for reflective practice.

We have a programme for staff well-being, this is available currently but any additional suggestions for it's development are welcome.

In addition to the standard training and development packages across the Trust we are also supporting staff to undertake the following courses:
Clinical Leadership;
HCR 20

SVR20

CBT for Psychosis

Family Interventions

Advanced Clinical Practitioner.

The above is not an exhaustive list and other opportunities are available if it enhances the service provision and the individual meets the standards required of their post.
