MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To ensure high quality day-to-day payroll service, support the delivery of smooth monthly and annual payroll processes, as part of an integrated payroll team for MUFG and effectively deputise for the Payroll Lead.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide full Payroll support to the local Payroll Lead on all employee lifecycle processes, including but not limited to, onboarding, offboarding, internal transfers and various parental leaves to assist with the running of the monthly payroll
- Act as a Senior Payroll Team member across both MUFG payrolls providing support to the Payroll Team and Payroll Lead. Share knowledge in support of a successful payroll team
- Act a mentor to Junior members of the team demonstrating role model behaviour, sharing knowledge and best practice.
- Own and be responsible for the MUS payroll end to end understanding payroll and accounting activities
- Work with local payroll teams under MUS (EU) understanding and being accountable for MUS(EU) payroll
- Ensure correct and accurate payroll accounting treatment is delivered across all payrolls
- Work to identify opportunities to align and streamline processes across MUFG to support the integration of the HR teams, operations team and wider HR function.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Functional / Technical Competencies:
Essential
- Good knowledge of ADP and Workday
- Must have good understanding and experience of UK payroll legislation
- Good Microsoft office skills
- Excellent numeracy skills
- Understanding/experience of working in an accounting/finance environment
- Attention to detail
- Good verbal and written communication
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment to tight deadlines
- Basic understanding of payroll processing required for International Mobility
Preferred:
- Familiarity with processing benefits via payroll
- Basic pension legislation knowledge
- Basic understanding of overseas payroll
Education / Qualifications:
Essential
- Qualified to a Degree level or equivalent further education
Preferred:
- Completed or working towards a recognised payroll qualification with CIPP
