South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse District Councils are seeking a qualified arborist to work within the council's Forestry Service.

This is an exciting and varied role working with a team of specialist advisers who are helping to shape the futureenvironment of southern Oxfordshire.


You must have professional experience of working within the arboricultural industry, ideally as a consultant or tree officer, with knowledge and understanding of the Town and Country Planning Act and the planning process.

A sound understanding of the practicalside of arboriculture will also be key.

Being a team player with good communications skills is essential as the role is within a team of 4 Tree Officers working within a busy Planning Service.


Duties will include:


  • Providing arboricultural advice on the impact of proposed developments to planning officers, planning agents, arboricultural consultants and architects, as well as a wide range of other customers.
  • Promote the wide range of benefits trees provide in the built environment, working to secure existing and new trees through the planning process as valuable assets
  • Assist the councils' in monitoring tree protection on construction sites, working with the councils' planning enforcement team when necessary.
