We are actively recruiting for a Education Welfare Officer to work in Hillingdon within the Early Support serivce.

The The Key Worker (Participation) will deliver and coordinate personalised, evidence based early and preventative interventions for children,young people and their families in Tier 2 and 3 of need with the aims of de-escalating issues of concern, achieving sustainable change, promoting capability and capacity within families to problem solve difficulties they are or may experience.

The post holderwill play a lead role in responding to family need where the primary presenting issue relates to non participation in education, employment or training (EET).


Roles and Responsbilities:


  • To develop, implement and review evidence based intervention plans, based on assessed needs, which address areas of concern with a focus on matters impacting on a child or a young person's participation in EET whilst promoting problems solving skills/strategieswithin the family. Plans may be for the family as a whole or specific to individual members.
  • To develop, implement and review Attendance Plans for pupils within the context of the early help assessment and team around the family methodology.
  • To deliver interventions directly to young people and / or the family unit and where required and appropriate broker services, as part of the plan, from partner agencies, voluntary or community groups.
  • To be persistent in the engagement of families or individuals who may be resistant by using assertive, creative and practical engagement strategies.
  • To work intensively with children, young people and their families in their own homes and community settings. Through the provision of EET related information, advice and the use of modelling and coaching techniques promote the development of skills, knowledge,aspirations to overcome individual and family barriers to sustained participation in EET.
  • Where required to provide guidance, advice and training to parents on child and adolescent development, managing conflict and challenging behaviour and on the EET opportunities and pathways.
