The Opportunity


Cochlear has an opportunity for an experienced and motivated Export Specialist to join our Shipping team based in our UK, Addlestone office.

In this role, the successful Export Specialist will have the opportunity to contribute to our mission and support our growing emerging markets by ensuring export shipments are delivered successfully, on-time in an efficient, accurate and trade compliant manner that supports our commitment to customers to "Hear now.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with customer service teams across the EMEA region, taking responsibility for endtoend success of export shipments to successfully fulfill customer requirements.
  • Raise and issue documentation to facilitate flawless shipment of goods to international markets across EMEA, particularly Middle East, Africa, Central Eastern Europe.
  • Take ownership, problem solve and create solutions for shipping issues encountered during transit to avoid delays in meeting customer expectations.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders and couriers to ensure timely completion of all export entries and ensure the correct documentation is issued on time.
  • Arrange inspection of goods and ensuring the receipt of the inspection certificate to required deadlines.
  • Ensuring customer specific shipping instruction documentation is relevant and up to date with current legislation, regulatory requirements, and shipping procedures.
  • Liaising with Banks, Embassies, and the London Chamber of Commerce to ensure accurate and compliant shipping.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to Customer Services, Finance, Regulatory, Quality and Operations.
  • Maintain relations with the Chamber of Commerce and cascade updates in legislation or regulations to appropriate stakeholders in the business.
  • Organise collections and courier requests for specific transacted goods and documents.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities by analysing inefficiencies or problems with shipments to avoid repeat instances of delays and/or issues.
  • Ensure compliance to IATA dangerous goods processes.
  • Some physical duties will be required shipping of courier parcels.

Essential

Minimum:

  • Experience in working in a fastpaced shipping operation
  • Must have experience in preparing documents for Letter of Credit and Bank Presentation
  • Experience of working with freight forwarders and courier companies (Air, Road, and Sea)
  • Full understanding of INCOTERMS
  • Experience of using the London Chamber of Commerce online
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal across all levels of the business
  • Selfmotivated, organised and enthusiastic with a flexible attitude and approach to work.

Ideal:

  • Proven experience of export to the Middle East, Africa, Central Eastern Europe and Europe, demonstrating a clear understanding of destination countries requirements and regulations
  • IATA experience shipping

Dangerous Goods:

  • Lithium-Ion Batteries by Air, Road, and Sea
  • An understanding of Export License Controls
  • Experience of working across a multicultural environment
  • Team player with the ability to work on own initiative as required
