Job Summary:

Accounts Assistant is an essential position in a company's accounting department. The

accounting team is responsible for maintaining an efficient, organised and accurate finance

function for the business and the Accounts Assistant is responsible for assisting with a

variety of day-to-day financial operations such as sales and purchase ledgers and basic

bookkeeping.

The Accounts Assistant will report into the Financial Controller and the role will include

helping the team with accounting tasks.

Outlined below are the standard duties that this job role entails.


Key responsibilities:

The Accounts Assistant will normally be expected to undertake a broad range of duties and


responsibilities, which can include:

  • Taking a proactive role in managing and collecting debts of company debtors
  • Evaluating new credit requests
  • Set up terms and conditions of credit.
  • Ensure timely payment of debts.
  • Follow up payments as needed.
  • Negotiate repayment plans.
  • Respond to relevant client enquiries.
  • Check and post receipts to accounting systems.
  • Check and send all sales invoices.
  • Prepare statements, client status reports and all relevant information as required.
  • Manage the sales ledger.
  • Provide administrative support to the team.
  • Weekly review and chase any missing sales rates.
  • Processing supplier invoices plus as and when needed processing transport tickets and match to order system.
  • Helping with additional finance duties as and when needed.

Skills and Experience

  • Enthusiastic, committed and a fast learner with previous experience of a busy environment
  • Computer literate with an aptitude for numbers, Excel & Word proficient
  • Basic understanding of bookkeeping and accountancy procedures
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work with individuals across departments and liaise with external customers and contacts.
  • Solid organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
  • Accountancy qualification is desirable but not essential as in house training will be provided.

Pay:
£27,000.00-£31,000.00 per year
