We are looking to appoint a Band 4 Speciality Team Administrator to provide efficient, comprehensive support to the Bereavement and Voluntary Services at Sobell House and Katharine House Hospices.

The post holder will be a key member of the Bereavement and Voluntary Services Team providing high quality, confidential administration to ensure prompt and effective support is provided to patients and families in need.

The role is pivotal in establishing administrative systems for maintaining a smooth running office to process referrals, whilst supporting the work of all volunteers and professionals in the team.


Main duties include being the first point of contact for the service, coordinating enquiries and referrals in a timely manner and the line management and supervision of a Band 2 Administrative Assistant.

You will be expected to demonstrate a professional, confidential and sensitive manner in responding to incoming calls from patients, bereaved relatives, volunteers and clinical staff.

You will have a proven ability to work to a high degree of precision whether it is recording activity data, compiling monthly reports or processing payment requests.

You will be required to support the team with any administrative obligations.
The successful applicant must have excellent communication skills and line management experience.


The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

The Pathway Coordinator is a key member of the team that includes the services Lead, Managers, Co-ordinator, Assistant Pathway Coordinator, Volunteers and Counsellors.


The post holder will provide a high quality, confidential administration for Sobell House and Katharine House Bereavement and Voluntary Services to ensure prompt and effective support is provided for those in need.


The position is pivotal in maintaining all office systems and administration of the referral processes whilst supporting the work of all volunteers and professionals and monitoring the effectiveness of the Bereavement and Voluntary Services.

This includes the supervision and management of the Assistant Pathway Coordinator.


The Pathway Coordinator will be the first point of contact for clients, administrative and general enquiries from within and from outside Sobell House, Katharine House and the OUH Trust.

There is an expectation that the post holder will have frequent direct contact with patients and bereaved people who may demonstrate high levels of distress and anxiety.
