Based in Droitwich - Worcestershire.

3 days a week (21 hours).

£24,000.00 actual pro rata salary.

Duration for 9 months - with the possibility of moving to permanent

Job Purpose


This is a wide-ranging and engaging role which incorporates two charities, and a small group of exciting start-up businesses primarily focused in the social care sector.

The HR team plays a key role in supporting the effectiveness of the organisation's in delivering their charitable objectives and business aims.

We are looking to strengthen the capacity and capability of the HR team by appointing a HR Generalist.

This is very much a "hands on" role in which 2 days are never the same but in which you will provide a quality customer focused full advisory HR service to line managers in designated organisations, coupled with co-ordinating the work of the main HR office in relation to recruitment and transactional work.

You may also lead on a range of projects/ developments as agreed with the HR Manager and deputise in her absence.


You will be tasked with giving commercially focused and pragmatic advice across varying disciplines, such as: absence management, flexible working, disciplinaries, grievances, performance management, employee welfare and much more.


Key Responsibilities

HR Management

  • Be responsible for the provision of HR advice, closely supporting the HR Manager with all aspects of employee management.
  • Provide practical and legal advice to the line managers in designated organisations on all aspects of the employee lifecycle.
  • Support the organisations with recruitment processes, pre
- and post-employment activities, induction, performance management, HR concerns as well as mentoring and training processes.

  • Update all HR policies and procedures regularly to ensure statutory, regulatory, and best practice frameworks are reflected.
  • Ensuring line managers are up to date with changes to any policies and law.
  • Coach, manage, mentor, and personally develop any relevant members of staff.
  • Coach managers on how to manage performance/staffing issues and processes.
  • Support managers with grievance and disciplinary issues, undertaking investigations and reporting as required.
  • Ensure an appropriate staff PDR policy and process is implemented and ongoing within the organisation.
  • Support the HR Manager with the investigation of complaints.
  • Deputise for the HR Manager in their absence.

The role holder will be/have:


  • Ideally a first degree or equivalent vocational/professional qualification.
  • Fully CIPD qualified.
  • Selfmotivated, positive thinking with a "can do" attitude
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, managers and external suppliers at all levels.
  • Strong negotiating skills to be able to deal with difficult and complex issues.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and manage priorities and expectations from various stakeholders.
  • Dynamic and proactive with willingness to accept change.
  • Ability to support and empathise with those we serve.
  • Ability to relate to people from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Excellent listening skills and confidence in talking to people both in groups and one on one.
  • Good IT knowledge to maintain accurate and orderly records.
  • To be an initiativetaker with good leadership, motivation and organisational skills as well as being a collaborative worker.
  • To be a good communicator both verbal and written.
