NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles.

We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern of this position is Mon-Fri office hours.


NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde is the largest Health Board in Scotland and has a trade spend with third party suppliers of approximately £811m with the Procurement Department providing a comprehensive procurement and logistics service for all Health Board functions.

This includes strategic sourcing and advice to improve effectiveness and value for money on all expenditure for goods, services and works.

We have a Senior Buyer role available within our Medical / Surgical team.

The Senior Buyer will ensure that the procurement of goods, services and works are carried out in a professional manner, and delivered in accordance with legal requirements, NHSGG&C Standing Financial Instructions thereby ensuring best value outcomes are achieved.

The post holder will lead for Procurement on large value, complex procurement projects and manage staff on a project by project basis to deliver projects within an agreed commercial workplan requiring a proactive approach to ensure optimum procurement strategies match user needs and performance targets
