An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen to join Bristol Adult Social Care as a Social Care Practitioner, a post is available within the First South team.


The team works with adults from diverse backgrounds, who have needs for care and support including physical disabilities, mental health, substance use, learning disabilities, older adults, and carers.

In First South, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the challenges which come from practicing in a big city, no two days will be the same, there will always be an opportunity for challenge and development.


You will be working within the statutory structure of the Care Act 2014 assessing or reviewing the needs of citizens and their carers, as well as having the opportunity to undertake work related to Section 42 Safeguarding Enquiries.

You will use the Mental Capacity Act to undertake Assessments and inform Best Interest decision making.


You will have the opportunity to be creative in your work, working with citizens and carers to effectively problem solve and maintain control over their lives and support.

We are looking for people to join us who are passionate about working with people in an empowering way and who are able to think outside the box to draw on strengths and resources within people's communities and exiting support networks.

You will use your initiative to explore alternatives to traditional care, including creative use of direct payments and technology.


You will work within a supportive team of team manager, senior practitioners, social workers and social care practitioners, you will also work closely with occupational therapy colleagues.


You will receive guidance and support from your colleagues and management to further develop your skills, knowledge and confidence in this fulfilling role alongside professional supervision.

The teams work on a hybrid model, meaning that practitioners work both from home and from the office based in South Bristol.


There will be lots of opportunities for you to work with other departments across Adult Social Care, as well as professionals from other agencies.
