About us...
We're on an exciting journey to create a simpler, better railway for everyone in Britain.

Our people and culture are at the heart of this - we're bringing together a wide/diverse range of people from across the rail sector and from other industries to help shape the future of Britain's railway.

Joining the Great British Railway Transition Team (GBRTT) truly is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to be a part of something purposeful and revolutionary, where you can develop your skills and experience.

We believe people should be their authentic selves at work and be able to thrive, bringing unique experiences, fresh perspectives, and creative thinking to challenge conventional ways of doing things.

If you're up for an exciting challenge and like the sound of what we're looking for then we'd love to hear from you

What we're looking for....

We're looking for people who are prepared to roll their sleeves up and take ownership, making it their place to make informed decisions and get things done.

We need to work together as an industry to design solutions that make things better for our customers, so we're looking for people who can build great relationships and integrate with colleagues across the sector.

We have a unique chance to change things for the better, and so embracing opportunity, using innovative and creative thinking - with a dose of healthy challenge - is critical to us.

We're driven by a passion to deliver for our customers and our colleagues, so people who show they care deeply about their work and for their colleagues are the kind we love and are looking for

A bit about the team.
The?Fares Ticketing and Retail (FTR)?programme is fundamental towards creating a simpler and better railway experience for everyone in Britain.

This is a once in a generation opportunity to significantly transform the customer experience by modernising ticketing, simplifying journeys, removing barriers and ensuring people are charged fairly.

We want to provide better travel information to help passengers whenever they need it throughout their journey and we're working on improvements that give customers confidence when booking, making them feel valued for choosing rail.

Using your expertise and influencing skills, we will need you to engage and advise to ensure that our Fares, Ticketing Retail (FTR) programme is clearly understood by our key stakeholders including the DFT and the rest of GBRTT, so that our goals and targets can be met.

What you'll bring.

  • Significant knowledge and experience of rail industry, including knowledge of commercial practice
  • Experience of retail and ticketing systems, in particular project delivery or new system implementation
  • Proven ability to balance technical capability with commercial acumen, diplomacy, and customer outcomes
  • A significant portfolio of industry contacts at senior level with the proven ability to engage with and influence stakeholders at all levels and develop effective working relationships
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a simple and understandable way to timepoor senior stakeholders
  • Action oriented with attention to detail and tenacity to get things agreed and done
  • Ability to engage industry specialists, building positive relationships based on trust and empathy
  • Ability to communicate complex issues clearly, to a wide range of stakeholders at different levels of seniority, with a particular emphasis on senior decision makers
  • Resilience, able to work well in a challenging environment that includes a high degree of ambiguity and uncertainty
