ABOUT THE ROLE
Shiner Ltd is looking for an experienced Junior Merchandiser to support their Head Of Merchandising in a newly created department within the business.
Working with existing buying and purchasing administration teams, you will be responsible for a brand portfolio compromising of apparel, footwear, action sports.
We are in an international business with distribution centres in the UK, the Netherlands and the US.
With a portfolio targeted predominantly in the youth sector, the successful applicant can expect a dynamic, fast-paced trend driven environment.
What
will
I
be
accountable
for?
- Support the Head of Merchandising to devise the growth strategy for the categories and implement strategy through strong partnership across the business.
- Creation of reporting sets which detail current business performance as well as providing key insights for future opportunities and actions towards net margin improvements.
- Responsible for the inventory position, managing purchasing forecasts as well as advising on underperformance to maximise the efficiency of our stock levels.
- Working with the Head of Merchandising and the Sales team to categorise our product ranges in regards to optimising stock versus sales and margin potential.
- Assist in shaping the GotoMarket strategy
- Working with Sales team to manage allocation of stock across the account portfolio, according to company strategy.
- Collecting and presenting in depth analysis inseason, building towards seasonal strategy, framework and buy plan presentations.
- Create profitable and efficient framework plans to guide future range building, work closely with the Buying, Sales and Marketing teams to implement the framework.
- Assist in the Sales forecasting process, identifying the trends which enable us to maximising profits while controlling stock cover and commitment, for mínimal markdown.
- Phasing in stock accurately, also around key events and seasonal launches.
- Maintaining awareness of competitor performance.
- Assist with generating ad hoc reports.
- Suggesting stock promotions price reductions and exit stock strategies
- Develop effective working relationships with cross functional teams such those in Buying, Purchasing, Product Development, Marketing and Sales.
- Assisting with special projects as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Person Profile:
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
- Strong numerical, analytical and data handling skills.
- Adaptable to change in a dynamic business.
- Ability to react to trade and think commercially.
- Effective time management skills an ability to prioritise to meet key deadlines.
- Hard working and resilient.
- Analytical and able to solve problems under pressure in a fastpaced but fun environment.
- An interest and knowledge of active sports is desirable.
Education
and Experience:
- Previous related experience in a Merchandising role; preferably in Sport/Lifestyle (Apparel, Hardware / Footwear.)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Navision, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of working within Licence and Distribution organisations.
