Salary:
Up to £86,200 (dependent on experience)

What you'll be doing:

Leadership responsibility for the strategy, plans, people, tools, processes and management within the Engineering Function
Coach, mentor and develop staff in the discipline
Support the delivery of BAE Systems Naval Ships projects, the production of bids, advice on key technical activities and provide a route to solve problems
Act as the Subject Matter Expert for Detail Design in both Design and LCM reviews
Provide cross company management, coordination and deployment of resource
Provide Governance and oversight of all Detail Design activities in support of the Head of Engineering Governance

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

Excellent practitioner, by experience and expertise, in Detail Design
Experience of leading a Detail Design Strategy and operational programmes in line with the overarching business and engineering strategy
Experience in this, or a closely associated, engineering discipline in a senior role that has demonstrated relevant domain knowledge and leadership skills

Desirable:

Experience in the design, build, integration and support of ships
Knowledge of shipbuilding, Operations processes and modern build strategies
Experienced in Life Cycle Management reviews of bids and programmes

As Head of Detail Design within BAE Systems Naval Ships you will have an excellent opportunity to lead, develop and grow a world class Detail Design capability that our Naval Ships requires to undertake its business.

Your role is therefore accountable to BAE Systems Naval Ships for having the right number and capable Detail Designers supported by the best practice, processes and tools for projects to be able to deliver their business.

This is a highly visible role where you will be regularly engaging with our key stakeholders in the UK and Canada.

This role will provide you with excellent career progression and skills development opportunities within the BAE Systems business.
