About you......
You will have experience of working in a similar role within manufacturing preferably within supply chain, warehousing or printing.


You will be confident and know how to work on your own initiative, but also enjoy being a strong team player.


You will enjoy supporting others to improve health, safety and environmental performance and have a genuine passion for promoting a positive safety culture.


What you will be doing......


Reporting to the Compliance Manager you will be responsible for maintaining and improving health, safety and environmental policies and practices across Elanders UK sites.

You will be main point of contact in all emergencies and crises, leading the crisis recovery plan.

  • To ensure that legal, statutory and other provisions, governing or affecting health and safety at work are observed and implemented; to produce reports and data on various aspects of work and maintain records.
  • To ensure that all the requirements of the ISO14001 standards are met by the management system, and work alongside the Compliance Manager in supporting the requirements of ISO 9001, group sustainability programmes, BRC and FSC.
  • To advise management of their responsibilities towards employees, contractors, visitors and the public regarding risks to health & safety arising out of work activities, liaising with departments to ensure efficient operation of various activities.
  • To record, investigate, and report all health and safety matters including accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences and near misses, in according and with Elanders policy and legal requirements, monitoring against KPI's and accident data.
  • To communicate health and safety issues to all staff through monthly meetings, monthly reports, annual reports, through the team brief, via the notice board and safety alerts.
  • To organise and conduct internal audits of procedures ensuring ongoing business compliance, conducting the audits according to a preset schedule.
  • To develop and implement policies and best practice for Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental welfare standards.
  • Lead the creation/development of standard operating procedures to ensure improvements are documented and shared around the business.
  • To perform any other tasks as directed by the Compliance Manager.

What skills you will need......

  • Sound knowledge of ISO Systems
  • Environmental training i.e. IEMA or equivalent
  • A recognised Health & Safety qualification i.e. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in management of COSHH, LEV, DSEAR and LOLER regulations
  • Time management/prioritisation of tasks
  • Organisation skills
  • Continuous improvement and proven problemsolving skills
  • Effective communication skills

  • Based at our Head Office on New York Business Park, North Tyneside with health, safety and environmental responsibility across all sites in the UK.
Monday to Thursday and Friday

  • 26 days holiday + bank holidays

  • Salary dependent on experience
