Description

We have currently opportunities for Project Directors to lead project teams on medium / high value projects, operating across multiple workstreams and sectors within our Smartspace business, including new build education and healthcare, major refurbishment and commercial office fit out, ranging in value between £5-30m, operating on a nationwide basis.


Key Accountabilities will include:


  • To lead project teams from preconstruction through to delivery and handover, to deliver projects to safety, quality, and financial targets for each project or projects you are responsible for, ensuring that the customer expectations are clearly defined, understood, and delivered upon.
  • Lead and support our Smartspace safety strategy across your project (s), delivering our zero harm initiative through the creation and implementation of a positive safety culture, driven by observational praise and challenge, visible leadership, supply engagement and implementation of the Smartspace bold commitments, whilst at all times setting exemplar standards and behaviours for others to follow.
  • Ensuring that the Smartspace Bold Commitments are considered and applied to each operation on your project or projects.
  • Support our 2025 environmental strategy through the implementation of waste and carbon reduction measures identified in the Smartspace business across your projects, whilst positively contributing to nature enhancement, aligning with business and customer environmental targets
  • Proactively manage the customer relationship during preconstruction, delivery, and post construction, including change management, risk management and decision making to effectively manage expectations, and maintain longterm relationships.
  • You will understand the contract terms and conditions for each project you are accountable for and ensure your teams understand these and have the knowledge needed to correctly administer the contract.

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrable high value, new build, cut & carve / refurbishment and or commercial fast track fit out experience in managing single and two stage and traditional forms of contract and be able to demonstrate a track record of stakeholder and consultant relationship management. You will have proven demonstrable experience of two stage tendering and successfully leading teams through the 2nd stage and during the construction period.


You will have excellent interpersonal skills including listening, understanding, and challenging as well as negotiation and presentation skills to Board level and be competent in analysis and strong communication skills. You can communicate and influence effectively and appropriately with all levels of stakeholder from leadership to trainees and be an independent thinker and creative approach to problem solving with strong commercial acumen.
