The Role:


  • You will be working with our client, a 15yearold lad who lives with his supportive family and enjoys interacting with his support team, singing along to music videos, playing computer games, and trips out. Our client is motivated to engage in his therapy routines and excels in the company of friendly, positive people. Your role will be to continue to encourage this whilst supporting our client at home during the weekends (he attends a special needs school during term time Monday to Friday).
  • Our client has Cerebral Palsy, Global Developmental Delay, and encephalitis. He is wheelchair dependent and partly verbal and uses Makaton to help him communicate. Whilst working alongside another Reablement Assistant/one of his Therapy team, you will help with all areas of his daily living requirements including personal care, exercise and stretch routines, meal preparation, feeding, and administration of medication.
  • Full training in all aspects of our client's care including Makaton will be given as well as support from his friendly Case Manager and Therapy team.

About You:
  • You will support our client by following his Care plan.
  • You must be a team player who is willing to train and learn about our client's particular needs. You will help him to achieve his rehabilitation goals, working with members of the Therapy team (e.g., Physiotherapist, Speech and Language Therapist) to help our client develop skills of independence, build confidence, and support the development of physical abilities.
  • You will be respectful of working in a family home and working alongside our client's father who is highly involved in his care.
  • You will be a cheerful person who is flexible, reliable, calm, and courteous. You will have a positive and empathetic attitude to working with a person with additional needs living in a family home, with a passion for providing excellent care.
  • Having a valid driving license is desirable but not essential for this role.

Pay:


  • During the probationary period (approx. 6 months) £15.00 per hour on weekdays, and £16:00 per hour on weekends/bank holidays.
  • After successful completion of the probationary period £16.00 per hour on weekdays, and £17.00 per hour on weekends/bank holidays.

Hours/Shifts:


  • 11 hours a week on a Saturday or Sunday between 09:00 and 20:00. There is flexibility on the day of the weekend worked.
  • Optional additional hours are occasionally available during term time on weekdays and always available during school holidays.
