Finance Administrator (Purchase Ledger)

Full Time £20,000 - £25,000

Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
Barna Shields are proudly working with a highly reputable law firm based in Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh. We are looking for someone to join their finance team on a permanent basis. This company is investing and continuously striving to ensure that it is a great place to work. Based in modern offices, on site subsidised restaurant for breakfast on lunch.


As the
Purchase Ledger Finance Administrator, you will work as part of a small team, reporting to the Purchase Ledger Manager.

This is a varied role and some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that invoices for goods and services are processed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • To review invoices received, ensuring that suppliers are set up appropriately
  • To undertake adequate due diligence checks in place to ensure the validity of the supplier and payment requested
  • To enter data into the finance system and seek final authorisation from
  • To work from a shared mailbox, and as such you will work as a team to action all requests as they arise.
  • Processing payment via BACS or Cheque, as well as ensuring regular standing orders and direct debits are undertaken as planned.
  • In addition to external supplier payments, you'll also ensure that employee expenses claims are processed.

What you will bring


You'll have a great eye for detail, and you'll be able to spot irregularities and be able to investigate these thoroughly before a payment is made.

You may also be involved in other duties such as regular variance reporting, month end processing and much more.


This is an opportunity that provides significant responsibility and is vital to ensuring that our suppliers and teams receive great service.


You will ideally have a minimum of 2 years experience working as a purchase ledger administrator, finance administrator or a role involving significant processing of invoices for payment.

You should have a good understanding of VAT rules, experience to a basic standard in Microsoft Excel.
