As the
Emergency Planning Officer within E Division's Force Preparedness Team, you will promote the resilience of BTP by facilitating the assessment of risk and creation of our plans, policies and procedures relating to the management of CT and Major Incidents at operational, tactical and strategic level.

The post holder will occasionally be required to work flexible hours and days to account for incident response functions.

As the
Emergency Planning Officer you will be required to:

  • Ensure BTP is ready to respond to major incidents
  • Maintain accurate logs, records and reports on resilience projects and other activity, and take ownership of information management.
  • Work with a minimum of supervision, making decisions regarding activity, implementation, and development based on agreed parameters, working to yearly or threeyearly cycles.
  • Identify opportunities for emergency planning or preparedness improvements based on experiences during the delivery of learning inputs
  • Engage with line managers and peers in multiple departments regarding the recommendations that may result in a change to materials and processes.
  • Provide specialist guidance, advice and support to all commanders during major, critical, CT, or business continuity incidents.
  • Educated to Bachelors degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Certificate in emergency planning, business continuity or risk management or equivalent relevant experience e

Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute.

  • Excellent understanding of the Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Programme (JESIP) and its supporting doctrine and principles for emergency service interoperability.
  • Good understanding of the roles, responsibilities and structure of Local Resilience Forums.

Desirable Experience and Skills

  • Familiarity and experience with emergency response systems including Airwave radio, Resilience Direct, and command & control software systems
