Would you like to work for an organisation that works for peace, justice, human rights and a sustainable planet? Would you like to work closely with their CEO and Senior Management Team to coordinate support for the implementation of their 5 year strategy?

We are working with The Elders, an organisation founded by Nelson Mandela in 2007 as an independent group of global leaders working for peace, justice, human rights and a sustainable planet.

There are 11 active Elders from Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin Americaand the Middle East.

The group has been chaired since 2018 by Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

This is a new role, and as Head of Strategy and Planning you will coordinate the implementation of their new strategy for

As Head of Strategy and Planning you will be responsible for

Coordinating the tracking of implementation of the strategy.
Coordinating the tracking of implementation of decisions made at Elders' Board meetings.
Assessing major new external developments that may require changes in the strategy.
Leading on risk management, including assessing the major external and internal risks to the implementation of the strategy.
Lead the preparation of an annual Operational Plan to prioritise Secretariat support to Elders.
Manage the content of Elders' Board Meeting agendas.

To be successful as Head of Strategy and Planning you will

Be experienced in fields relevant to The Elders' work (diplomacy, international development, civil society advocacy etc).
Have experience of working in (or at least on) more than one country (including ideally the global South).

Be experienced in contributing to corporate strategy and operational/business planning in a complex international organisation.
