BAR OPERATIVE - JOB DESCRIPTION

Bar/ Front of House Operative


Department:

Main function:
Assisting with the operation of the Basil's Bar


Reports to:
Service Manager**
Direct Colleagues:All staff


As Bar Front of House Operative for Basil's Bar at Colets Health and Fitness you are responsible for providing an efficient friendly service to our members and guests, delivering excellent customer service and ensuring a smooth operation and organization of the bar area.


Job Duties:


  • Ensuring excellent levels of customer service. Welcome members/nonmembers, be approachable and Smile.
  • Ensuring a fast and efficient service.
  • Ensuring that the till and the PDQ machine are working.
  • Ensure tables, chairs, surfaces, and working area are clean and tidy at all times. Maintain a clean friendly environment at all times.
  • Familiarise yourself with the food on offer at the start of your shift i.e., specials etc.


  • Uniform is compulsory

  • Colets shirt, black skirt or trousers, apron, black shoes or trainers. Always wear your name badge. Please make sure your shirt and trousers are ironed and clean for every shift. If you have long hair this has to be tied up in a pony tail for hygiene reasons.
  • Liaise with our catering team.
  • Speaking and communication must be of a very high standard. You will be able to give and take orders from customers coherently.
  • Dealing with deliveries. Accepting and signing for deliveries in the absence of the Bar Manager. These items need to be check for then signed for.
  • Check the cutlery is clean and you have sufficient serviettes. This should be done throughout the day and evening staff should make sure they are placed in the tray ready for the morning.
  • Stock the fridges with bottled beer, wine etc. This should be done throughout the day and last thing before closing ready for the next day.
  • If we are running low in a certain stock while on shift you need to notify the bar manager or leave a note in the bar diary.
  • Participate in and promote Events/Functions of the bar.
  • Good knowledge of Cellar
  • Cellar management training provided
  • Managing wastage. All waste must be logged in the bar diary so a report can be done at the end of each month for accounts.
  • Be aware of staff that want to talk to you whilst on duty: if you have completed your tasks this is acceptable but be alert to your surroundings. Try not to talk in front of till. Customers always come first.
  • All staff must purchase their food or if complimentary this need to be written down in the bar diary with their name and what they have had from the bar. This are given to accounts at the end of the month.
  • Attend Food and Beverage Meetings as and when required.
  • Do not use your Mobile phone whilst on shift. You must be member facing and proactive at all times.
  • Working to the Rota given by the Bar supervisor.
  • Comply with all Health & Safety regulations with acute attention to detail.
  • Ensure Open/Close checklists and procedures are adhered to at all times. Checklists must be completed and signed on every shift.
  • Make sure you complete the cleaning duties for that day and then sign the check list.
  • Ad hoc duties given by Bar Supervisor, General Manager, Duty Manager.
  • Cellar and all fridge temperatures in the bar area to be taken and logged on checklist.
